PIETA

I cut some timbers to create a composition in which each would be placed on another. I came up with the idea to do this after seeing Michelangelo's Pieta in Vatican. I wanted each piece of timber to lay on another, carrying and supporting one another. A composition in which only the concept of carrying others and being carried by the others remain. While I was descending the stairs in Vatican, I said to myself there are basically two modes. Carrying and being carried. These two modes are the only two things that are left to me from Vatican. There is nothing else that remains except for those two things. I wanted to make use of these remains.
